Jay graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. From there, he went on to become a certified educator in the public and charter school districts for over 12 years and continues to serve and shape the next generation.

Jay has also spent some time in life, health, property and casualty insurance sales as well as new and used car sales. From that experience, he learned the do’s and don’ts of how to treat a customer. His customers consistently spoke of how he stood out from the rest by being an educator who kept them informed and knowledgeable in addition to being a friend who cared and not just a salesman. He implements this same mindset as the Executive Director of Essence Dance Academy which he has co-owned with his wife Avis for over 10 years.

It is evident that Customer Service is Jay’s #1 priority. He is a man of character, integrity, and transparency. He is in no way perfect, but strives for excellence each and every day.
